Destination: Caraga Region, Philippines

Featured: Butuan City, Surigao del Norte and Surigao del Sur

Caraga Region is located in Northern Mindanao, which is the third island in Southern Philippines. Butuan City is full of history and culture, a highly urbanized city and the regional center of Caraga Region. In Butuan, you can enjoy the hospitality of the Butuanons and explore the city’s Balangay Shrine, Butuan National Museum and the Delta Discovery Park in Barangay Bonbon where you can experience the longest zipline in Southeast Asia which is about 1.3 km long. There are beautiful beaches nearby just a short drive from the city.

Surigao del Norte is where the famous surfing destination in the Philippines located, the Siargao Island. Siargao is known for its unique excellent surfing, beautiful deserted beaches, caves, warm water and sea foods. Aside from surfing, another famous activity is island hopping and explore the beautiful caves and sandy islets.

While Surigao del Sur is where the beautiful clear blue Hinatuan Enchanted River is located. Hinatuan Enchanted River is known for its bluest clear water. The river is a mixed of salt and fresh water. From Enchanted River, you can go for island hopping and stop at the Sibadan Fish Cage and Resort, where you may experience to swim with humongous sting grays. There are baby sharks in the fish cage, too.

From Manila, there are direct flights to Butuan City and Siargao Island or you fly direct to Butuan and from Butuan take the bus to Surigao. When I am in Butuan, my favorite hotel to stay is the Almont Inland Resort. Yes, there other beautiful hotels like Watergate Hotel, Butuan Grand Palace, Oazis Hotel and many more. Enjoy and visit the Caraga Region.
