Choco Chips Banana Bread

Good morning everyone! Today, I am sharing my family’s recipe for Chocolate Chips Banana Bread or simply plain Banana Bread. I bake banana bread once a week. Why? It’s the easiest and fastest type of bread to make. Unlike regular bread, it takes longer time to make due to longer preparation time needed since you have to wait for the dough to rise. However, with the banana bread you don’t need to wait for the dough to rise since we’re not using yeast at all. So, in about 75 minutes or less including preparation time, you’ll have a tasty banana bread instead of 3-4 hours for a regular bread.

With Banana Bread, you can do a few variations to the recipe by adding chocolate chips, raisins, almonds or pecan nuts. I often add chocolate chips or chunks since my daughter loves the sweeter version and once in awhile I bake just the plain one for my son. So whatever, you feel like baking or crave, it’s up to you. Anyways, the time of preparation and baking is the same. Enjoy….

Ingredients:

  • 3 large ripe mashed bananas
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 1/3 cup melted butter or vegetable oil
  • 1/4 cup mayonnaise or sour cream
  • 1 large beaten egg
  • 1 tsp vanilla or banana flavoring
  • 1 tsp baking soda
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1 1/2 cup all purpose flour

Optional ingredients you may want to add for different variations:

  • 1/2 cup chocolate chips or chunks
  • 1/cup chopped almonds
  • 1/2 chopped pecan nuts
  • 1/2 cup raisins

Preparation: 6-8 servings

  • Preheat oven to 350F
  • Mix flour, baking soda and salt
  • On a separate bowl, mix all the remaining ingredients
  • Combine the two mixtures until smooth
  • Bake for 50-60 minutes

You may want to serve it warm with butter. Enjoy!
